School Sisters of St. Francis
Mission
The School Sisters of St. Francis are an international community of Catholic sisters who unite with others to build a just and peaceful world. Our mission is to live the Good News of Jesus and witness to the presence of God as we enter into the lives and needs of people around the world, especially those who are poor. We strive to be a source of new life, new meaning and new hope.
History
Since our founding in 1874, the ministries of the School Sisters of St. Francis have evolved to serve the needs of the times. Today, we are actively working in education, health care and social services, pastoral ministry, and the arts to address the needs of those who are poor and marginalized by society. Our ministries are thriving throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America, India, and Tanzania. All our ministries have their foundation in the social teaching of the Catholic Church and our Franciscan tradition.
Our Sponsorship of ST. Clare Management
The United States Province of the School Sisters of St. Francis sponsors and co-sponsors several ministries to advance Christ’s mission. We founded St. Clare Management in 1989 to provide management services for our HUD apartments, providing housing and services to those with disabilities in the greater Milwaukee area.
